Dear SDCR working group chairs, Please forward the following additional travel instructions to your members. The url for the workshop is: http://www.medg.lcs.mit.edu/doyle/sdcr/ The main workshop meeting room will be MIT room 34-101 (room 101 in Bulding 34). For those arriving by car or cab, the address of Building 34 is 50 VASSAR STREET in Cambridge; it is a mainly glass building recessed between two larger glass buildings. I append more general directions to campus below, in text taken from the MIT web page on How to Get to MIT. The SDCR travel page has a pointer to a campus map showing the location of Building 34. Sincerely, Jon Doyle ---------------------------------------------------------------------- HOW TO REACH MIT As parking is limited and regulations are aggressively enforced, visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transportation. BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION MBTA ("The T") A public parking garage at Alewife Station (on Routes 2 and 16 at the Cambridge/Belmont/Arlington line) allows access to the Red Line subway. Take the Red Line from Alewife Station in Cambridge or from Park Street Station in Boston to Kendall/MIT Station or to the Central Square Station, both of which are a short walk from the campus. There is a regular MBTA bus (#1) service along Massachusetts Avenue from MIT to Central and Harvard Squares. FROM LOGAN AIRPORT Taxi fare is about $15. You can ride the subway system to and from campus but it does involve several changes. At Logan Airport take the airport shuttle bus that runs to the Blue Line subway station. Take the Blue Line to the Government Center station and go upstairs to board the Green Line trolley to Park Street. At Park Street station, go downstairs to board the Red Line subway going outbound towards Alewife, and exit at Kendall/MIT station. Under normal conditions the ride will take about one-half hour. BY CAR FROM ROUTE I-93 OR SOUTHEAST EXPRESSWAY Take exit 26, and follow the signs to Back Bay along Storrow Drive, approximately 1.5 miles, to the exit for Route 2A on the left (just before the Harvard Bridge). As you cross the bridge, you will be looking at MIT. BY CAR FROM ROUTE I-90 Take the Cambridge/Allston exit (exit 18) off of the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90). Following the signs to Cambridge, cross the River Street Bridge, and continue straight about 1 mile to Central Square. Turn right onto Massachusetts Avenue. MIT's main entrance is one-half mile ahead on the left. BY CAR FROM ROUTE I-95 >From the North take I-93 off of I-95 and follow the I-93 directions to MIT as given. From the South take either I-90 or I-93 (Southeast Expressway) off of I-95, and follow the appropriate directions above. ========================================================================= Jon Doyle URL: http://www.medg.lcs.mit.edu/doyle Clinical Decision Making Group e-mail: doyle@mit.edu Laboratory for Computer Science Voice: 617-253-3512 Massachusetts Institute of Technology Fax: 617-258-8682 =========================================================================
